County Development Plan 2017–2023
Dear supporter of Sligo Gaol,
Please help Friends of Sligo Gaol ensure that Sligo Gaol is included in the new County Development Plan. The more submissions we can make on behalf of the Gaol the more chance we have of it being included in this key blueprint for Sligo’s future.

Sligo County Council is currently drafting a new ‘County Development Plan 2017–2023’
The Council states that this document will act “As the blueprint for development in County Sligo, the County Development Plan is the over-arching strategic framework document for sustainable development in spatial, economic, social and environmental terms”.
Contributions are invited from anyone interested in the future development of County Sligo and its settlements.
Friends of Sligo Gaol believe that the historical gaol at Sligo has local and national importance and significance in an architectural, historical and tourism context. It is key for both the conservation of Sligo Gaol and also to maximise the chances of working towards the eventual opening of the Gaol to the public that we ensure it is included as a key element of the new County Development Plan 2017–2023.

Draft Sligo County Development Plan 2017-2023
Public consultation from 21 September to 30 November 2016
Following pre-draft consultation in 2015, Sligo County Council has prepared a Draft Development Plan for County Sligo for the period 2017 to 2023. The Draft Plan is now on public display from the 21 September to the 30 November 2016. The Draft Plan can be viewed online at the following link: www.sligococo.ie/cdp
Submissions
Written submissions or observation regarding the Draft Development Plan and associated documents, including, proposed additions and deletions to the Record of Protected Structures, should be made in writing (hard copy or e-mail) stating the name of the person or body making the submission and headed “Draft Sligo County Development Plan 2017–2023”.
