My Tale Untold:
Inspired by real life characters, places and events, 'My Tale Untold' follows the story of
a young girl in 1839 from Sligo and how events bring her within the walls of Sligo Goal and beyond. It is a touching story of a young girl forced to make her own way in the world of the time.
The book was a passionate undertaking for Friends of Sligo Gaol that has been in the planning for four years. It aims to educate younger generations about the history of Sligo town, Sligo Gaol and what life was like for a child in the 19th century. We are proudly providing a number of free copies of the book to each primary school in Co. Sligo.
The book was kindly funded by Sligo LCDC, County Sligo Leader Partnership Company Ltd, the Creative Ireland Programme Sligo and Sligo Credit Union. We achieved these aims through collaboration with talented local illustrator Wayne O'Connor.
